All-Russian program “Sanctity of motherhood”
The Center of National Glory and St. Andrew the First-Called Foundation have realized the All-Russian program “Sanctity of motherhood” since 2006. The chairperson of the program Board of trustees is Nataliya Viktorovna Yakunina.
For the implementation of the Program, in 2006 a branch of the Center of National Glory was created in Krasnoyarsk. At the turn of 2010 in Moscow an Office for the implementation of the Program “Sanctity of motherhood” was established. Its main objective is to create and carry out the principal lines of the Program development. Moreover, branches in Novosibirsk and Rostov-on-Don were set up later.
In 2011 a website www.sm.cnsr.ru was created, which is now operating and which allows those who care about the future of Russia to closely cooperate.
Goals and objectives of the Program
- shaping of the social consciousness so that the public estimated family and motherhood, fatherhood and childhood as the greatest values;
- restoration of the moral and ethical potential of the Russian family;
- assistance in the improvement of the Russian family and the overcoming of the severe demographic crisis.
We are craving for Russia to have as many children’s smiles and strong happy families as possible.
To achieve these goals, we are working in several priority directions connected with public education and awareness campaigns, support of youth initiatives, development of social welfare and cultural projects.
- establishment of family values in the society;
- social and psychological support for pregnant women and young mothers who find themselves in difficult situations;
- support for young and large families;
- work with children and young people.
The main projects of the Program
Since its creation the program “Sanctity of motherhood” has been directed at the medical, scientific, creative and journalistic communities, parents and children, student-age young people.
The first step was an announcement of a competition for the Program logo. Today, the Program is recognized by the gentle profile of the mother-angel, protectively holding a baby in her arms.
In 2006 the concepts of the main Program projects were formed – “You are not alone”, “Media”, “Volunteer” and “Competitions”; the project “Competitions” was opened, within the scope of which annual subject competitions are held: literary and photo contests, competitions of decorative and applied works, children’s writings and drawings on the family subject. Following the results of the competitions, books for family reading of a publishing series “Sanctity of motherhood” are issued.
In 2007 the realization of the project “You are not alone” was initiated, which is aimed at the psychological support for pregnant women who find themselves in a difficult situation. The main objective of the project is to prevent induced abortion. The mechanism of the project consists in promotion of psychologist assistance in maternity welfare centers. Then the cooperation of a psychologist and doctors is carried out in the following manner: before giving a woman a medical referral to an abortion, an obstetrician-gynecologist sends her for a consultation to a psychologist, who takes all possible effort to make a woman decide to preserve the new conceived human life. The main result of this project realization are thousands of saved lives!
The pilot project site was Krasnoyarsk where in 2009 a psychologist position was introduced in all maternity welfare centers; in 2010 a position of a chief out-of-staff psychologist was introduced in all obstetric aid institutions; in 2011 a Methodical center for pre-abortion consultation was opened. The main project partners – Smolensk, Vologda, Novosibirsk, Kurgan Region. Awareness-raising events on the project took place in the Republic of Mordovia, the Primorye Territory, Pskov, Rostov, Sverdlovsk, Belgorod, Yaroslavl, Smolensk, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Orel, Volgograd, Ryazan, Kaliningrad, Omsk and Tula regions. Activities in support of this project, which involved more than 600 people, took place in 15 regions of Russia. Within the project a program of professional development for psychologists working according to the pre-abortion consultation strategy was developed, and the corresponding training of specialists is conducted; recommended practice for induced abortion prevention for public health authorities is developed. In addition, the project psychologists have formed a Voluntary organization “Association of psychologists of maternity welfare centers”, aimed at the exchange of experience and knowledge, professional support and supervision of specialists.
The project “Media” destined for assistance in development of social responsibility among journalistic and advertising community members was started in 2007. The main objective of the project is to gather like-minded people who are confident that the information field in which we are living today can and should be changed. One of the mechanisms for the implementation of the project is the signature of the Memorandum of family values formation by the media and advertising communities. In several regions Public expert councils on cooperation with the media are created. The most effective activity form is the creation of an information ground which promotes a certain spirit in the society. In 2012 the Project “Media” was reorganized into the project “Family values in today’s information space”, which provides for a more active cooperation with advertising agencies and internet resources. In particular, the social advertising is one of the project work lines. Social banners and videos aimed at the protection of motherhood and childhood, consolidation of families and marriage, restoration of traditional family values are placed in different cities of Russia on a regular basis.
The project “Volunteer”, aimed at the development of a youth volunteer movement to help needy citizens, was launched in 2007 with the object of providing support for women and families that find themselves in crisis situations, and promotion of family values among young people. In 2009 an All-Russian volunteer staff was created and an educational resource “School of volunteers” was launched. Since 2011 an electronic newsletter has been published; higher educational institution graduates – active volunteers of the Program receive a Certificate of social activity.
Moreover, volunteers of the program “Sanctity of motherhood” take an active part in the School of volunteering (organized by the Center of National Glory), where volunteers can improve their skills in socially important areas (support for large families, pregnant women that find themselves in a difficult situation, orphans and the disabled).
The First Forum of the All-Russian program “Sanctity of motherhood”.
In November 2010, in Moscow, the first Forum of the All-Russian program “Sanctity of motherhood” was held. The Forum brought together over 1,000 participants from 50 regions of Russia, the CIS and far-abroad countries. Later on the provisions of the Forum resolution were reflected in the main federal laws; they are in tune with the Proposal of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill on the improvement of national policy in the field of family and childhood care; and make part of the order of the President of the Russian Federation to the Russian government to create centers of medical and social aid. One of the outcomes of the Forum is an active work on cooperation with the authorities in the Russian regions.
At present the Program has reached an All-Russian level. Since the end of 2010 cooperation agreements have been signed with 15 regions in all 7 federal districts; the work within the project is carried out in a number of Russian regions with which no agreements have been signed yet. The Program becomes a platform for consolidation of constructive forces from different regions of the country; regional boards of experts and trustees of the Program are formed, which are aimed and function as platforms for improvement of conceptual and methodological framework of the Program, as a place for discussion of current issues in the field of protection of traditional family values.
